Aromatherapy During Pregnancy and Birth

Genetic Testing During Pregnancy

The use of essential oils in aromatherapy has been used for centuries.  Frankincense and Myrrh were noted in biblical times as a heavily useful meditation fragrance.  It is well known that using essential oils can help alleviate a lot of the aches and pains that come with the day’s stress and anxiety.  Although the term aromatherapy is now used, it did not become a common term until the 1920’s.

The main ingredient in aromatherapy is the essential oils.  Essential oils are extracted from various plants that contain therapeutic effects.   The extract is removed, distilled, and bottled in pure form.  They are highly potent oils, and they need to be diluted before proper use as an inhalant or cream.

There are a variety of ways to use the essential oils.  Before choosing, you should research and study which essential oil is best for your condition.  Test the fragrance to make sure there are no allergies.  Place a small amount of diluted solution on your skin to make sure that it will not cause any skin irritations.

Place a few drops in a bath and relax your mind and body.  Preparing a warm bath and diluting essential oils in the bath can relieve you from mind fatigue.  It is incredibly relaxing which is important for an expectant mother.  They can also help relieve the aches and pains from your muscles or the tension from the day’s events.  If you prefer to take a shower, place some droplets behind the drain where the oil can have time to dilute.  The warm shower water will dilute the oil leaving an incredibly soothing fragrance.

Although many essential oils have individual benefits, there are also good combinations.  Certain combinations of key essential oils can provide a more potent way to treat mental issues and emotional imbalances.  They can also help you regain memory and get rid of irritability.

Essential oils are also great for massage use.  Tiny droplets diluted in massage oils can enhance a massage by relieving tension in muscles and helping soothe sore aches and pains.  Use the oils on the temples, forehead, and scalp creates a relaxing effect that removes headaches and leaves your mind refreshed and clear.

Pregnant women are prone to hormonal imbalances that cause stress and anxiety.  Aromatherapy can be used to help pregnant women relax and help balance their emotions.  Small amounts can be placed in bath water or in a vaporizer to inhale the therapeutic scents.  Below is a list of essential oils that will help you relax during your pregnancy.

Lavender

Lavender is a restoring fragrance that helps relax the mind.  It can put you in a euphoric state of rejuvenation and clear your mind from the day’s stress.  It is also said to strengthen contractions.

Chamomile

This oil is a mild fragrance that calms the mind and the body.  It is best for irritability and anxiety.  Used in moderation, this fragrance can help you relieve stress and deal with emotional imbalances.

Neroli

Neroli is an essential oil that helps with depression.  It removes the negative thoughts from your mind and helps you relax.  It can also help with insomnia and other stress related illnesses.Stress is one of the leading causes of insomnia.

Bergamot

Bergamot is an effective mood enhancer that also helps you deal with depression.  It will clear your mind and the citrus scent uplifts your spirit.

Conceive A Baby Boy With This Little Known Technique

If you are trying to conceive, and would really like to know more about conceiving a baby boy, I know you are about to be impressed by the following advice. What you are about to learn will really stack the odds of conceiving a baby boy in your favour.

Whilst research suggests that your diet and positions during sexual intercourse can influence the gender of your baby, the information I am about to share is, in my opinion, by far the most crucial thing you can do to potentially predict baby gender.

As well as reading this post, I highly recommend this “How To Choose Your Babys Sex” book, it’s a very interesting read with some great tips, including a lot of detail on the method below.

Ok, so what is this critical little known secret?

Well did you know that your man produces two types of sperm? He produces what are known as Y chromosome sperm and X chromosome sperm. The crucial difference being his Y sperm are male and his X sperm are female. This means that if one of his Y sperm fertilises your egg before an X sperm can, you will conceive the little baby boy of your dreams. And here is what you want to here, the good news. You can actually influence the probability of his Y sperm getting to your egg first!

Gender is not the only difference between the Y and X chromosome sperm. The Y chromosome sperm are faster swimmers than the femail X sperm, but whilst they may be stronger swimmers they have less stamina and can't survive in the uterus as long. Therefore, and this is the critical bit, if you know your day of ovulation precisely you can time your love making to try and ensure the sperm of your choice has the best chance of fertilising your egg!

For example, when trying to conceive a boy you need avoid making love up until the day before you ovulate. If you make love any earlier, the male sperm will die leaving the female sperm free to fertilise your egg. By delaying intercourse until just before you ovulate, the faster male sperm will get to your egg first and so conceiving a baby boy!

There you have it, the crucial basics conceiving a boy, or at least the secret to really increasing your chances of having a boy.

Would You Like To Conceive A Baby Girl?

If you are considering having a baby soon and you would really like to have a little baby girl, the following advice and links are just what you need.  This really is advice worth considering if you would really like to firmly stack the odds in your favour to conceive a baby girl.

There are serveal methods you can try to conceive the baby sex of your choice, but I believe this piece of advice is potentially the best.

You need to understand the following:

  • your ovulation cycle and date of ovulation
  • the characteristics of male and female sperm
  • when to time your intercourse

This  information is absolutely critical when trying to predict your baby’s gender (this book in this link is excellent). Understanding your ovulation cycle will allow you to predict precisely when you ovulate, and therefore when to have intercourse in order to conceive a girl. Let me explain how this works.

The man produces two types of sperm. Chromosome X sperm is female (it makes the little girl you crave), and his chromosome X sperm is male. So if you are keen on conceiving a baby girl, you need to make sure his X sperm fertilise your egg. It sounds simplle, but in practice, how do you actually ensure that happens?

So here is the secret to gender selection that you need to know. Y sperm swim faster than X sperm, but their exertions lead to a shorter life.

This information is crucial to baby sex selection. For example, you want a baby girl, so you need to ensure that you have intercourse several days before your day of ovulation, say three to four days before, and then stop!

If you follow this advice, the male Y sperm will have died off by the time you release your egg, and the X sperm that can live in your uterus for up to four days will be waiting to fertilise it! So now you can see why it is so critical to know your ovulation date precisely.

So now you know the basics of how to conceive a baby girl!

If you would like to know more about ovulation dates, intercourse positions and dietary advice, visit this website, Predict Baby Gender for lots more information, and be sure to take a look at the book linked to above.

Baby Gender Selection Explained

When I first heard about this technique I was highly sceptical, but after researching it further and reading lots of stories about it’s success rate, I really believe it is probably the best natural method for attempting to influence baby gender selection.

If you desperately want to conceive a baby boy or a girl to complete your family, or you just crave a specific sex for your first or next baby, the baby sex selection method below will help you to really put the odds in your favour!

As well as reading this article, you should take a look at this “How To Choose Your Baby’s Sex” book if you really are keen to influence the sex of your next baby, it’s an excellent read.

Whilst not fool proof, what you are about to learn should significantly increase your chances of conceiving the baby gender you desire.I first heard about this method of gender selection from my wife's nurse during a visit following teh birth of our second boy. She gave the following advice to my wife to make sure we have a girl next time around.I was intrigued by the conversation, so I went online and discovered plenty of information supporting the theory.

So how do you go about baby gender selection in practice?

Firstly you must precisely calculate your actual day of ovulation. This is the day your body releases a single egg. You need to accurately know the timing of this event so that you can plan your love making around it.  Here is why …

Your partner produces two types of sperm.X sperm which is femaile and Y sperm which is male.   The male sperm can swim faster than the female sperm, but conversely, does not live as long following its expenditure of effort.

Therefore if you know exactly when you ovulate, you can time your intercourse to allow the male sperm to get to the egg first if you want to conceive a boy, or you can time it so that the make sperm will have died of exhaustion before the egg is released, leaving the female sperm free to conceive a girl.

Obviously this method of baby gender selection is not guaranteed 100%, but it will certainly improve your chances of conceiving the baby gender you desire. To read more about this method and on other things you can do to infuence your baby’s sex, visit Baby Gender Selection now, and be sure to also check out the book above!

Learn About Ovulation And Conception

If you are trying for a baby you need to understand the importance of charting you’re your ovulation cycle. There are lots of reasons why you can struggle to conceive, many things can affect your fertility.

Taking the time to understand your ovulation cycle will allow you to accurately pin point your most fertile time during each month. Knowing when you are at your most fertile means you can time your love making to maximise your chances of successful conception, or in other words, make sure your man’s sperm has the best chance of getting to know your egg!

Ok, so let’s discuss how your ovulation cycle actually works. On the day you ovulate, your body produces one fertile egg. That's right, just one solitary egg each month. Therefore you can see just how important it is to understand precisely when your egg will be available for fertilisation, especially if you have been struggling to conceive for some time.

Your ovulation period lasts for six days.  It is only on the sixth day of your cycle that you actually ovulate, and therefore it is this day that you will be at your most fertile.  Your day of ovulation will typically happen approximately fourteen days before your next menstruation period starts. So, if your normal cycle is 28 days, the fourteenth day will be the day that you ovulate.  Whereas, if you typically have a thirty day cycle, your most fertile day would be day sixteen of your cycle.

Once you have calculated your exact day of ovulation, you can plan around it.  Your man’s sperm can survive in a woman’s body for up to four days, therefore you need to have intercourse as many times as possible in the four days before you ovulate, and on your day of ovulation as his sperm can reach your fallopian tubes in as little as twenty minutes.

If you’d like to learn more about getting pregnant and predicting your ovulation dates, visit when is ovulation now.

How To Determine Your Baby’s Sex

Is it really possible to influence the sex of your baby at the time it is conceived? Can you naturally influence Mother Nature’s intentions to give you a little baby boy or girl?Well surprisingly it is possible to influence the odds in your favour if it is the case that you do have a distinct preference as to which sex you would like.  I use the word sway because I don’t believe that using natural ways you can ever determine your baby’s sex 100% of the time, but I do believe that you can improve your chances of having your baby of choice.

It was only after we had our second child, a second little boy, that I overheard a conversation between by my wife and her nurse, in which my wife was saying how much she would love to a have a little girl next time (what next time I thought!).  The nurse suggested that by carefully timing the conception, we could dramatically improve our chances of having a girl  At this point I thought it was just an old wives tale.Well as she was a nurse who should know something about medical subjects I did think there could be some credibility in her statement. So off I went to “google” the theory, and to my surprise I found quite a few articles on the same subject!

So how does the theory go?

In simple terms, a man has two types of sperm that determine the sex of the baby.  Y chromosome sperm are male and will make a little boy if they fertilise the egg, and X chromosome sperm are female.  So if you can make sure the Y sperm get to the egg first you’ll have a little boy, or for a little girl you must ensure the X sperm fertilise the egg.  Simple really?

But how on earth can you organise which sperm get to the egg first.Well, apparently, the Y sperm can swim quicker than the X sperm, but conversly, the X sperm live for longer!  So that’s why conceiving a boy or a girl comes down to timing.  To read more precise information on timing conception based on ovulation cycles, take a look at my predict baby gender site and you can make your own mind up on the theory then.I do believe that the science behind the theory could well hold some truth.

Tips for Choosing Maternity Nightwear

Lots of pregnant women spend time carefully planning their maternity outfits - for example work clothes, evening wear, pregnancy dresses. However, they often focus entirely on their daywear options and forget all about maternity nightwear until suddenly they can no longer struggle into their pre-pregnancy pyjamas and are left to spend the remainder of their pregnancy sleeping in uncomfortable oversize t-shirts.

I think it’s time to prioritise maternity sleep wear. While there's no quick way to get a good night's sleep when you are having a baby, top quality and easy to wear clothing will help you relax a little more while offering some fashion to your maternity loungewear wardrobe. Most maternity sleep wear is made with nursing access for wearing after you’ve had your baby and makes for a very good long-term investment. Here's my maternity sleepwear checklist:

Size: Just like the rest of your maternity wardrobe, pyjamas and maternity nighties should be bought in your pre-pregnancy size unless you have gained more than the average 25-35 pounds. Also, if you are carrying twins or more, you may need to go up a size (or two!).

Comfort: A lot of pregnant women have problems sleeping at some point during their pregnancy. While there's nothing you can do about a lively baby who likes to kick throughout the night, or the early days when you seem to be always taking trips to the bathroom, you can select maternity nightwear with comfort in mind, so it’s not your clothing which is giving you insomnia!

Jersey cotton is a great fabric for comfortable nightwear and also for pyjamas which can be worn just as easily as casual wear for padding around the home for relaxing in. Personally I prefer to wear maternity pyjamas because of their extra use as loungewear and because they are warmer to wear during the night in colder months if you are up and about. Watch out too for tops with built in support for extra comfort - some designs use built-in cups and others a fabric “shelf” both work well.

Multi-purpose:
Maternity nightwear is made to be used after birth and is constructed for easy nighttime feeding through the use of clever designing. Watch out for clever wrap-over style PJ tops. Another option is to choose button through pyjama tops which also give fast access.

Style:
Forget the unfashionable nightclothes of yesteryear, modern maternity sleepwear adds style to comfort and is available in some beautiful patterns. Look out for the glamourous designs from HotMilk, including camisole tops, wide leg trousers and vibrant shades and patterns including duck egg blue and rich plum.

So, to sum up, look for maternity sleepwear in comfortable fabric designed for use after the birth. Remember if you select pyjamas, they make good loungewear options too. But don’t forget to buy a design you like!

How to Choose the Perfect Maternity Jeans

Finding the right pair of jeans is a common problem for most women, but if you’re pregnant too, then where do you begin to choose the right pair of maternity jeans?

Denim is a flexible material; it gives either warmth in winter or fits cooler in Summertime. A pair of maternity jeans is a maternity wardrobe staple that can be both casual and fit for dressier occasions. Denim also can provide a wide range of styles. If you enjoyed wearing low-rise jeans pre-pregnancy, you’ll be relieved to know you can buy this fashion in maternity sizes as well.

Unless you know the terms used by manufacturers, choosing a pair of maternity jeans can be overwhelming and confusing. They come in a large number of styles, shades and fits so it will be easy to find the best style for your body if you understand what to look for. A smart, well-fitting pair of maternity jeans can take you right through your pregnancy to any number of occasions. whether you’re visiting friends, having a simple dinner out or simply going shopping, having a great pair of maternity jeans to pull on is a great addition to your maternity wardrobe.

While before your pregnancy you only needed to consider the shade of denim or the cut of the leg, when you’re pregnant your key decision you need to make is what kind of waistband to pick.

Most mums-to-be choose between “under-bump” or “over-bump.”

Under bump maternity jeans are styled with a soft band across the front which sits comfortably under your bump.  The band provides an easy fit and comfortable support throughout pregnancy and in the transition period after. If you wear a longer top that covers the band noone can tell they're a pair of maternity jeans. So don't be afraid to wear these for a long as you want after you’ve given birth.

“Over Bump Jeans” are styled to fit around your expanding waist and consist of a full elastic waistband so that the jeans grow with you.Often maternity jeans have a front panel made from soft and stretchy material and which expands to fit as your bump grows. This kind of jeans are very flexible and you can wear them throughout your pregnancy, making this style the easiest choice of jeans.

If you are looking to add maternity trousers to your wardrobe then here are some further options. Side panels in jeans are very comfortable for expecting mothers. They will fit when you grow sideways as well as at the front. These side panels are flexible and contain elastic so that they can expand with you as you grow. Many women, however, like the comfort of drawstring trousers. These trousers contain elastic in the back, but have a drawstring that can be adjusted to fit the pants precisely to the woman. The drawstring can be an easy choice lasting throughout the pregnancy as they can be adjusted as the woman grows.

You Want To Get Pregnant Sooner

A lot of couples find it hard to make a baby for a number of reasons, and the longer they fail to do so, the more stressful the experience becomes, particularly for the would be mum. And the stress only makes it harder to conceive. We naturally believe that making a baby is easy and that other couples don't have any problems. We just see the babies we haven't got and fail to think about whether or not their parents had problems conceiving too, we just see other couples with babies and stress ourselves over our own failings.  We find ourselves constantly asking ourselves the same question … “how do I get pregnant?”

Of course there are couples who for medical reasons will never be able to have children, at least not as a couple. For the vast majority though, it is simply a matter of time and patience. But can you do anything to assist Mother Nature and help thngs along?

Well, firstly, let’s go back to the beginning.  Stop getting stressed!  Stress can imbalance your hormones and will make it harder for you to conceive.  Taking time to get pregnant is normal so stop worrying.  Instead concentrate on what you can do to improve your chances rather than harming them unnecessarily.

For example, a healthy diet is a good place to start, and if you’re overweight, try losing a few pounds.  Both can have a real effect on your fertility.

To really improve your chances you need to take the time to fully understand the timings of your ovulation cycle.  By familiarising yourself with the workings of your menstrual cycle you have a much better probability of his sperm and your egg being in the right place at exactly the required time. Your body releases a single egg each month, so understanding when that happens will allow you to time your lovemaking to coincide with your most fertile time, giving you the best chance of conceiving.

For more information, visit when is ovulation and learn in detail how your ovulation cycle works and how to calculate your most fertile time of the month precisely.
